You can book and cancel an appointment with the doctor on-line (you will need to register for this service with reception) or ring reception on 0161 426 5800.
Please tell the receptionist your need is urgent when you call. Give as much information as possible to help the receptionist arrange a suitable appointment for you. You may not see your usual doctor and no other matter should be discussed with the doctor during this consultation.
Acutely Ill Children
We understand how worrying it can be when a child is poorly, particularly when they are acutely unwell. For this reason, if you ring up the surgery about a child under 16 years of age who you feel is acutely ill, we will arrange to see the child that day.
If there are no appointments free that day, the on-call GP will be notified of your concerns and will make a decision where an appointment can be added on to the clinic in progress or may arrange a home visit or, if appropriate, may do a telephone triage with you to ascertain whether it is advice that can be given over the phone or if the child needs to be seen in person.
In emergency situations, for example, where the child has breathing difficulties, is choking, has stopped breathing, has a rash that doesn't disappear when pressed with a glass, or appears to need imediate medical attention, it may be more appropriate to call 999 or to take the child to A&E.
Out of practice hours, please phone the practice number and you will be connected to the Out-of-Hours service for help.
For your convenience telephone appointments are offered to discuss any medical concern you may have that does not need an examination or face to face consultation. Please let our receptionist know if a telephone appointment is suitable for your concern as you are likely to ‘see’ a doctor more quickly using these appointments.
Routine Doctor Appointments
We offer appointments in advance and on the day. You are free to choose which doctor you would like to see and our aim is to offer you an appointment with that doctor when possible. Appointments are normally 10 minutes long and can be booked 4 weeks in advance.
Sometimes the doctor may want to see you again within a specific time. This appointment can only be made as you come out of the Surgery so that the receptionist knows it is on the doctor’s instructions.
Routine Nurse Appointments
Nurses based in our practice treat patients for a wide range of common conditions. Nurses offer appointments for the following:
- Chronic disease reviews (e.g. Asthma, Diabetes, COPD)
- Smear tests
- Pill and HRT checks
- Travel clinics
Due to the varying time allocations of different procedures you need to book nurse appointments by speaking to a member of the reception staff.
Health Care Assistants
Offer appointments for the following:
- Blood tests
- Blood pressure checks
- Height/weight checks
- Smoking cessation
- New patient checks
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason, please inform us as soon as possible so that we can give that slot to someone else.
